It’s only been a day since the new school year started, but Irie-mama, never one to be underestimated, has already analyzed Ayako and tells Kotoko she needs to step up her game in order to catch Naoki. Kotoko wonders what career she should go into, but predictably… Satomi and Jinko have started thinking about what to do after college Satomi is working as an assistant at a magazine editorial office and Jinko is scoping out the music scene. She’s not a hair-flipping hussy like her sister, but she sends a flirtatious wink Naoki’s way, infuriating Yuko and Kotoko. Yuko’s little sister Ayako has also joined the tennis team and declares in front of the entire tennis team that she’s after Naoki. Spring means a new school year, and unfortunately, another love rival. Gradually, the icy-cold Naoki who disliked girls started to feel for Kotoko.Romance takes a backseat in this episode as Kotoko and Naoki begin to look towards the future. Not discouraged, the clumsy and not-so-bright Kotoko started to do everything that would change her impression on him.
It was then that Kotoko realised Naoki was the elder son of Machiko, who took up the role of a fairy-godmother to bring the two spite the fact that Naoki was disgusted. When Kotoko's house burned down, her father's good friend Machiko invited them to move in with her family. Naoki showed his disgust, but Kotoko started to idolise him, who was good at everything from studies to sports. Late for a meeting, Kotoko was running along the corridor in school and bumped into Naoki, their lips meeting.
