Superheroes and villains have come to the city to work towards their own interests, be they noble or villainous. have declared martial law, and the Kingpin has deployed his own soldiers to the city in order to wrest control from Fury and his agents. The story behind Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is that New York City is essentially a warzone. The best part, however, is the ability to swap between the two mid-combo, allowing for a great variety of different combo opportunities. This suit excels at crowd control, and also seems to pack more of a punch than its more agile red counterpart. The black suit's powers are more ichor-like than webby, with Spidey able to extend his arms as fleshy black tentacles to whack at surrounding opponents. The red suit is combo-heavy and focused on speed, allowing Spider-Man to web up enemies and to perform daring acrobatic maneuvers. In Web of Shadows the player will have complete control over both costumes, switching between the two on the fly, allowing for an interesting mix of abilities and combat capabilities. In the film, the black costume had an effect on Peter Parker's psyche, startlingly transforming him from a mild-mannered, humble nerd into a brash, aggressive personality with a penchant for dancing. The differences between the black and red costume are more far-reaching than just a cosmetic change. In his last film, Spider-Man got his hands on the stylish black symbiote costume, though one can also say that the suit got its hands on him.
